Smart Light Sensors

A smart light level sensor is not able to directly control lighting. In actuality, the sensor detects light and changes its electrical properties to respond to changes within a given environment. They can be connected to lights within smart buildings to turn lights on and off, and increase brightness depending on how much natural light is present.

Where a smart ambient light sensor will detect the intensity of ambient light in order to adjust connected lighting systems, a motion sensor detects physical movement to trigger an action, such as turning a light on in a room where someone has just entered. In a truly integrated smart building, you can think of it like a motion sensor activating a light as someone enters a space, whilst the light sensor adjusts the level of light needed to sufficiently illuminate that space.
