Smart Level and Distance Sensors

A smart level sensor works by measuring the height or presence of a liquid, powder, grain (or other similar substances) inside a container and converts the measurement into an electrical signal, allowing you to gauge the level. This is done in cases where accessing thew container may prove difficult, such as in a silo.

A smart distance sensor will measure how far an object is from the sensor without touching it. This is generally done by sending a signal and timing how long it takes to bounce back. A time-of-flight sensor sends a pulse of sound or light. A triangulation sensor projects a beam of light that reflects back at an angle into a camera lens inside the sensor; as the object moves, the light shifts position on the sensor's internal detector and the distance is calculated based on the angle change. Inductive sensors use magnetic fields to detect metal objects, so when an object gets closer to the sensor, it changes the magnetic field and the sensor measures the position.
